Considering textiles as signifier, I have been exploring themes of semiotics, coded messages using diagramatic imagery. This work uses handkerchiefs – which in their own right have cultural and social significance: from their use to clean and repair the body both physically and emotionally, to a site for message of propaganda and nationalism.
