The finished textile is a symbol of the home, domesticity, the feathering of the nest, a symbol of conventionality. This is an abandoned tableau, has the sewer just left or is it staged? The ephemera of sewing give the feeling of nostalgia. The small sewn pieces are all raw, undone showing their process, leaves a rawness that defies commodity. They are not yet of the seen world, the patriarchal order, they still reside in the woman’s world the place of domesticity, the interior.
